Freelancer? But No Clients!

Apply This checklist to Get Clients as a Freelancer

 Approach A Lot. I Mean A Lot.

When you are just starting, just message a lot of people on their posts regarding your service. When I started, I usually approached a minimum of 15 people daily.

The reason was, not everybody is going to see your message and reply to you.

 PITCH Well

When you inbox someone regarding your service. Your Pitching must be legible and reliable. How? The first point, make your message Customized. For example, You are going to approach a person regarding your Content Writing Service.

So, can start like this:
- Hi, Kiran.
- (Your Name) this side.

(If they don't reply, wait for 2 minutes.)

- Just seen your post. You are in search of a content writer, (mention the niche if it is given in his or her post). I am a Freelance Content Writer, committed to serving your exact need. Waiting for your positive response to work with you.

Then you need to continue accordingly.

- Finally when comes to pricing try to talk over call regarding that. Obviously, ask the client beforehand to have a phone call.

For more regarding Pitching, you can see demo videos on YouTube. It Can guide you better than my words.

Create Stories around your services or Your Brand

Find some problems regarding the services you are providing. Ask yourself how your service can help your client? Here, the story means the problem your client facing or the requirement they have, and your service is the hero. So, let's help out them.

For example, you are a Graphic Designer, so create stories around the questions like, Why You Need an Eye-catching Banner? Why your Insta or Facebook Post's Design needs to be good before that is used in Promotion?

If you can create stories around these questions and at the end represent yourself as the Problem Solver. So there are the chances that, clients can approach you by themselves, or else when you chase them you can use these stories to convince them in the moment of bargaining.

 Remain Available

Nowadays, all are very busy! We have become accustomed to getting what we need when we want it. So, to meet this requirement you can keep "turn on" your notification (assuming you are hunting clients on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). So once a client posts his or her requirement you can quickly approach him or her.

Though I usually keep notifications off. As it is very distractive, but I did this at the very beginning, to build a standard portfolio soon.

 Build Relationship

Business is not a one-night-stand. Freelancing is not very far from a business. If you analyze, the present market, most of the digital entrepreneurs in the field of Digital Marketing started their career as a freelancer. And maybe now they are the CEO of an established agency.

In Digital Marketing Content is also not a one-night-stand. Content marketing is a long-term relationship. As far as the business run, they need to do content marketing. Remember her, content does not represent only words, but it can be graphics, audio, video, etc.

So, I recommend, never misbehave with the client. Try to build a business relationship. So that in the future when they need the same service they won't forget to approach you (these are called recurrent clients).

And as you know, to do the above, your service must be flawless. So never compromise on quality.

 Be Specific

Digital Marketing is a vast field, it's an ocean. Become an expert in any particular field at the beginning. So you can attract more clients through that expertise. And as your client base increases, increase your skillset too. And offer your new services to your existing clients.

For example, instead of saying I am a graphic designer, say I am a LinkedIn Banner, Insta Post, and Facebook Post Designer. These words in your bio will help the visitor to remember you.

The reason is that, when you just start your journey, no one is going to fix a big deal with you (This is a fact, they will tell you to show portfolio samples, etc.) So, I suggest to my interns work with small projects/ that will help you to make a decent portfolio.

 Client Persona

A client persona is like a sketch of your ideal client you would love to work with. (For example, you want to work only with *X* charges, so you need to approach the client who is willing to pay you that much of the amount.) It will help you to approach the right client & save your time and energy.

 Focus on Client Retention

Once you get a client, treat him very well. So that they won't resist repeating your services. It will save you from chasing unknown clients, so your time, and lesser chances of getting scammed.

Conclusion:

Remain active on Social Media, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc. So you will understand the nature of content running all over the internet. But I would suggest keeping your focus on a maximum of 2 social platforms when it comes to lead generation or where you approach clients. It will help you to stay notified about the recent posts and you can approach the client early so that you didn't miss the deal.

Lastly, everyone can not be good at sales. So, we have created a WhatsApp Group of Freelancers, where you can get projects. How?

Let me explain, suppose I am good at Pitching Clients, so I would approach Client from the Whole Digital Marketing Field. And I will keep the work that belongs to my Niche.

For other works, I will post the requirement again on that WhatsApp Group and will hire some experts in those projects.

This way others will do the same. So I won't be lacking in projects most of the time.

Now, if you are a Freelancer I would welcome you to join our group: Freelancer Web
