How do I do freelance work in my free time?

Freelance work starts with the desire to build your own brand. I started it, as I wished to put my name in the Google Search Results, Facebook Searches, Instagram, and Linkedin Search results and in many places if I want to name all the platforms individually.

Now, you may be confused about where should you target to put your name?

In this regard, what I experienced is that it would be always better to start up in any one platform in the beginning - but that beginning should be robust. You need to have a clear vision and proper planning to achieve yours through that platform.

Why only one platform in the beginning?
Because, if you want to grow on multiple platforms simultaneously, that will hamper the process. You can't focus well...and you will spend a lot of your time just sharing that content/managing the account on multiple platforms.

Well, I hope you have got my first point and the necessary point that to do work freelance work in free time, you need to have good social proof.

Let me, break it a little for a more clear understanding. When you are searching this query on Google or on the Internet, 99 percent chances are there you are going to utilize your free time via the virtual world or the internet. Am I wrong?

Okay, so now you have to approach the people who have work and so where will you go to find them? Definitely on the Internet and most probably social media groups, and more specifically on Facebook and Linkedin.

Let's suppose, you have work and I approached you from the Facebook post you posted regarding that work. What do you look into about my profile? Definitely, you are going to check my profile picture, my recent posts, and what people are saying about me, in the comment section. Am I wrong?

I usually do it, whenever I approach someone for work or look for someone to get work done.

That's why, I always say, your social media profile is not just an account it is your Resume/ CV in this 21st century. If you can master the management of your own social presence, it will represent you as a brand, a reliable user, and definitely a Trustworthy Freelancer if you are looking for some freelance work here and there.

Okay, fine. So, you start building your social profile like a professional in the field you love, you are an expert, it can be anything, for example, I am a content writer, so I will post content that is related to content writing and the content that requires a content writer. However, the main point should be that I will share business-related stuff, not just cheap-meme or funny videos. But, why? This will show you as a professional--- you have a standard, you have a business mindset and taste, and so on.

By the way, converting a social media profile into a brand is not an overnight project, it will take time, so keep patience and follow the minimum guidelines that a professional should do.

The second step is to do freelance work in free time:

You need to approach clients, for this, you should join various Facebook groups in the beginning, as the scope is more here as compared to LinkedIn.

But keep in mind, you should not join irrelevant groups, or else you can miss out on the important requirement posts, or that may not appear in your feed even. So, join max. 20 groups. Check the requirement posts in your free time. If you like a post, also do comment and also send a personal message to that person, that " I just saw your requirement post, I am interested in the field you are working, and I can do the job quite well." Try to mention his/her words in the message but keep it short and interesting and yes, don't forget to say Hi, (name) to that person.

In this way, you need to approach the clients. And don't expect a reply from everybody. It may happen that, you messaged 10 people but replied only one. That's natural. But never send copy-paste messages, always write a short and crisp personalized message.

Third Step of doing freelance work in free time from home:

Once you receive a reply from the person you approached (prospect) then the work is to communicate well with them. It can happen over a phone call or as chatting. However, a phone call is always desirable before finalizing any freelance project. It is crucial if the client is not paying your charges in advance, but you are ready to take that risk just you are starting. In this scenario, a phone will help you to understand the person a little well and you may identify his/her nature --- whether he/she is going to pay the amount after getting their work done. Well, don't worry about this too much, your experience will help you to cope with these issues and you need to cooperate with the time to happen so. So, keep patience and just work hard but also don't detach your brain in any situation. One more thing, that you should not pay anybody to get any kind of work, that is a very clear sign of fraud people but many intelligent beginners even fall into that trap and later start crying in the Facebook groups, but ultimately your money goes.

These are a few steps, you need to know before you start freelance work in your free time. You can do freelance in any field you are an expert and somebody needs your expertise who is ready to pay for it.  That's it.

oh, yeah, you must have a good internet connection - though having a laptop is not essential, you can just start with your mobile phone with great ease, and as you grow all things will come automatically in your way. Just go and start. Best of luck!
